Sunday morning in Eindhoven
Eindhoven on a sunday morning.
I think like all city's Eindhoven is very quiet on a sunday morning. So you have the time to make photo's in a way you normally can't make. And when there is already a morning sun then it is nice to see all the buildings in that light. So a little impression of Eindhoven.
A view on the Mathildelaan with at the left side the Blob and the Art hotel. The stripped building behind is a former Philips building what probably is going to be in the nearer future a appartment building. At the right side you can see one of two entrances of the undergound bicycle gararage. It has 1700 parking spaces for bicycles.
The Blob (on the pictures above) and the Bubble (on the picture below) are a design by the Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas.
Next to the Bubble there is the second entrance of the underground bicycle garage.
In the Bubble there is the American Today store.
If you look into the Emmasingel you see a lot of impressive buildings. At the left site you see the Blob then the Admirant shoppingcenter and appartment building. In the middle there is the Regent appartment building and on the right site there is the Philips Lightning Tower and the Witte Dame (White Lady) were the Library, shops and Art Center are.
The entrance of the Piazza shopping Center is also designed by the Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas and the building at the right site of the entrance is called the Bijenkorf (Beehive). It was designed by the Italian Architect Gio Ponti and the grand opening was in 1969. So there is a big Italian influence in this area.
So if you are going to Eindhoven this is one of the places you have to visite not only for shopping but also enjoying the scenery.
